INTRODUCTION

At last, a page that has been waiting for over two years to be published! I had hoped to introduce this with a history of the Book Club but apart from knowing that Christina Foyle was instrumental in making the Book Club her own, my own knowledge is negligible. I had also been hopeful that Foyles would contribute knowledge from their archives but, regrettably, this has not been forthcoming, so I am left with presenting these editions just as they are. As you will see from browsing the page some of the jacket designs are works of art and I am thrilled that I have been able to capture them for posterity. If there is anyone out there with some knowledge of the history of the Book Club, how it came about and it's progression, or any knowledge about the jacket designs, please get in touch. I and many others would be very grateful.
