One of DW’s final publishing schemes was the ‘Dennis Wheatley Library of the Occult’, which hit the shelves of booksellers in 1974.

DW and George Rainbird, Chairman of Sphere Books, arranged the re-publication of some 45 occult classics, all with short introductions by DW.

The Library, originally intended to have hundreds of titles, was launched with a party at luxurious Brown’s hotel, hung with nylon cobwebs and lit by black candles.

DW was on good form and was described by the Evening Standard as ‘the sprightliest 77 year-old in the book world.’
