My Dear Dennis,
We both want to thank you so much for sending your latest book.
I’ve read the first chapter and your hero sounds so much like our John I think he should get a ‘rake-
off’ in the royalties. Maybe some differences will appear as the story proceeds!
I saw Ian Fleming yesterday and thought he seemed a little jealous or the reviews you had in the
Sunday press. This won’t do any harm.
M-J and boys and dogs came back from Ireland on Tuesday. They all enjoyed themselves in spite of
the usual mixed weather.
I went to Scotland for a week or so to stay at Bemersyde from where we visited the Edinburgh
Festival and its associated activities on a few occasions, all of which were agreeable.
I am now on the point of leaving for London as I am off to Ireland tomorrow till Friday. I’ll be in
London next week for two days (probably 12 & 13) in case you are around. The Club is open again
now. The following week I’ll be shooting in Yorkshire, I hope.
This is really just to thank you so much for sending the book, which I am sure I am going to enjoy
greatly.
We send you both our love.
Please excuse this rather disconnected letter.
Your ever -
Derrick
