(Rollo Ahmed’s notes : sheet 1 side 4)

The cleansing breath ventilates and cleanses the lungs, stimulates the cells and gives a general tonic to the respiratory organs, & is conducive to their general healthy condition. Besides this effect, it is found to greatly refresh the entire system.

Yo-gi Complete Breath

I Stand or sit erect, breathing through the nostrils, inhale steadily (personal instruction will be given)

II Retain the breath a few seconds

III Exhale quite slowly, holding the chest in a firm (?) position, and drawing the abdomen in a little & lifting it upward slowly as the air leaves the lungs. When the air is entirely exhaled, relax the chest & abdomen, a little practise will render this part of the exercise easy; which afterwards can be performed almost automatically.

These breathing exercises are specially designed to meet the requirements of the pupil. It is impossible to accomplish any branch of Yoga if the body is not in a fit condition. By acquiring these practises & treatment (?) a normal condition will result, & much relief experienced.
