DW's nascent collection survived his near bankruptcy in the early 1930s, and later on it survived the bombing of his house during the Blitz in 1940.

It grew to contain more than four thousand volumes, and the wisdom with which DW selected his books – and in particular his stunning collection of first editions - has become increasingly apparent with the passage of time.

Some of the contents of this unique and fascinating Library are explored in the following pages.
